Paris – Morocco, represented by Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali, is taking part in the 2026 Ministerial Meeting of the International Energy Agency, held Wednesday and Thursday at the headquarters of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
Benali is participating in this meeting, which aims to take stock of the Agency’s achievements and examine the main global energy challenges and prospects, at the head of a delegation composed notably of senior officials from her department.
Morocco joined the International Energy Agency family as an associate country in 2016.
Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands Sophie Hermans, the IEA Ministerial Meeting, held every two years in the French capital, brings together energy ministers from the IEA family of member and associate countries to review the latest developments in energy markets and policies, as well as their implications for energy security, affordability, and sustainability, according to the Agency.
In addition to ministers, CEOs from the energy sector and other sectors are participating in discussions at this meeting, as well as leaders of international organizations and representatives of civil society, according to the same source.
Highlights of this international event include a high-level dialogue on energy security in the age of electricity, as well as plenary sessions on investment in secure, affordable, and sustainable energy systems, and global cooperation to bolster the energy sector’s resilience and sustainability.
