Tanger, July 2025 – This summer, the northern region of Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (TTA) is shining brightly on Morocco’s tourism map. At the heart of this renewed momentum stands a dynamic and visionary leader: Rkia Alaoui, President of the Regional Tourism Council (CRT-TTA), whose tireless efforts are transforming the region into a top-tier destination for both domestic and international visitors.
“Tourism development doesn’t happen overnight. It takes strategy, consistency, and close cooperation with all local stakeholders,” she says with humility, while proudly pointing to record-breaking visitor numbers—well before the traditional peak months of July and August.
Proven Expertise with Tangible Results
Under Madame Alaoui’s leadership, the region is undergoing a deep and measurable transformation. Determined to break the mold of short, peak-season tourism, she has championed initiatives that are now extending the travel season to begin as early as May—a remarkable shift attributed to her coordinated approach across key areas:
Upgrading road access to coastal and rural tourism zones
Revamping beaches and public spaces
Enhancing cultural and family-friendly entertainment offerings
Strengthening collaboration with local and national tourism stakeholders
These efforts have paid off. The region recorded exceptional occupancy rates in May and June, setting the stage for a high season that is more robust than ever. Summer 2025 is expected to reach an average occupancy rate of 70%, far surpassing the region’s previous annual average of just 45%.
A Holistic and Sustainable Vision
But for Rkia Alaoui, success is about more than numbers. Her leadership is guided by a long-term, sustainable vision that centers on inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and local empowerment.
“Tourism should benefit everyone—creating jobs, protecting the environment, and showcasing our unique heritage.”
Her strategy includes:
Expanding air and sea connectivity to the region
Supporting eco-tourism and rural tourism initiatives
Promoting youth and women’s involvement in tourism ventures
Elevating the region’s visibility ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host
A Grounded Leader and True Regional Ambassador
Known for her presence on the ground, Rkia Alaoui maintains a hands-on approach—engaging directly with local communities, tourism operators, and institutions. Her deep knowledge of the region, combined with her strategic insight, has made her a respected ambassador for Northern Morocco’s tourism renaissance.
At a time when Moroccan tourism is striving for sustainable excellence, the TTA region—under Rkia Alaoui’s guidance—is leading the way. Tourism here is more than an economic activity; it’s a shared regional mission built for the future.
