ENGIE North Africa Appoints Rik De Buyserie as New CEO

Casablanca – ENGIE North Africa announced the appointment of Rik De Buyserie as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), taking over from Loïc Jaegert-Huber.

This key appointment underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to its ambitious growth and development strategy across the North African region, ENGIE North Africa said in a press release.

Quoted in the press release, Rik De Buyserie, CEO of ENGIE North Africa, said that he is honored to lead ENGIE North Africa at this pivotal time and to contribute to developing sustainable energy solutions that not only meet local needs but also align with the Group’s global priorities.

“North Africa offers immense potential, and we are committed to working closely with our esteemed partners to drive the region’s energy transition forward,” he added.

De Buyserie brings a wealth of experience, boasting over three decades within the ENGIE Group. Throughout his tenure, he has held numerous leadership roles across various countries and business sectors. His extensive background includes significant experience in energy production and infrastructure, human resources, and spearheading major organizational transformation projects.

Before this new appointment, De Buyserie served as Regional Vice-President for Transformation & Geographies across Africa & APAC, a role that also saw him overseeing operations in Morocco and Egypt.

Prior to relocating to the company’s regional headquarters in Casablanca, De Buyserie led ENGIE’s operations in Australia and New Zealand from 2022 to 2025, where he oversaw electricity generation and distribution to retail customers.

From 2018 to 2022, he also served as CEO of ENGIE Energia Perú, a company listed on the Lima Stock Exchange, while concurrently coordinating the Group’s activities in Colombia and managing support functions for Latin America.

De Buyserie holds a degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Ghent University and is an alumnus of the INSEAD General Management program. His diverse experience gained in varied cultural and economic environments across Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa will undoubtedly be a cornerstone in achieving the Group’s strategic ambitions in North Africa.
