Officers of the National Security at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested a 38-year-old French national on Tuesday, January 28, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Swiss judicial authorities.
The suspect was apprehended immediately upon his arrival on a flight from Nouakchott. A routine check through the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) database revealed that he was internationally wanted in connection with a case involving extortion, threats using a firearm, and acts of violence.
Following his arrest, the individual was placed under the legal extradition procedure, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, in accordance with national laws and international agreements.
The National Central Bureau of INTERPOL in Rabat, operating under the General Directorate of National Security, was tasked with informing its Swiss counterpart of the arrest in order to initiate the extradition process.
This arrest reflects Morocco’s continued commitment to strengthening international security cooperation, particularly in combating transnational crime and tracking down individuals wanted at the international level.
