Morocco and Australia are rising world powers as regards renewable energies and green hydrogen, Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom, Michael Cutts, said on Thursday in Rabat.
Speaking at a ceremony held to commemorate Australia’s national holiday “Australia Day 2024”, Cutts underlined the solid ties between Australia and Morocco, whose diplomatic relations are now celebrating their 47th anniversary.
The Australian diplomat also drew attention to the active collaboration between Moroccan and Australian companies, as part of the ambitious goals of energy transition and decarbonization.
He also stressed that Moroccan-Australian partnership for a green economy and the development of a green hydrogen ecosystem “is a strategic choice”.
Emphasizing the geostrategic importance the Kingdom gives to African countries, the diplomat hailed the Atlantic Initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI aimed at promoting access to the Atlantic Ocean for the Sahel states.
On her part, Leila Benali, Minister for Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, said that this day represents an opportunity to reiterate the excellence of diplomatic, commercial and cultural relations between Morocco and Australia.
Benali underlined the excellence of the partnerships between Rabat and Canberra, which continue to develop successfully, underscoring the importance of Morocco’s integration into global energy markets.
“These are partnerships that fit into a shared vision and a common strategy between the two countries to decarbonize industries to align with national strategies,” the Minister said.
“Australia Day 2024” was attended by over 300 guests, including senior Moroccan officials, leading members of the Australian and Moroccan business communities, civil society players and NGOs, as well as diplomats accredited to Rabat.
