Trade between Morocco and Spain continues to rise, growing at an average rate of nearly 9% per year over the last decade, according to Finance Minister Nadia Fettah. In an interview with El Economista, she said commercial exchanges between the two countries have expanded by 59% since 2019, confirming the strength of their economic partnership.
Morocco now imports around €11 billion in goods from Spain, while its exports to the Spanish market reach €9 billion. Fettah described the relationship as strategic and highlighted the 13th High-Level Meeting as a milestone to boost cooperation further.
Energy remains a key area for joint action, especially in sovereignty and decarbonization, while sectors such as textiles, agrifood, technology, services, and finance also offer major opportunities.
The minister underlined Morocco’s attractiveness for investors, citing a stable tax framework, modern infrastructure, and the country’s role as an export platform to Europe and a gateway to Africa. She also emphasized the importance of Tangier Med Port, connected to more than 180 global ports, as a central logistics hub.
Fettah called for stronger ties between small and medium-sized enterprises in both countries to reinforce economic integration and create more value.
