Istanbul – Moroccan Transport Minister Abdessamad Kayouh met his Turkish counterpart Abdulkadir Uraloglu on Friday in Istanbul to explore ways of deepening bilateral cooperation in transport and mobility.
The talks, held on the sidelines of the Global Transport Connectivity Forum, were also attended by Morocco’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Mohamed Ali Lazrak. Both sides praised the longstanding ties between Rabat and Ankara and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing collaboration in infrastructure and logistics.
Kayouh highlighted Morocco’s leadership in renewable energy—particularly green hydrogen—and its attractiveness to international investors. He also outlined the Kingdom’s major port development projects, including the upcoming Nador West Med port and the Dakhla Atlantic port, part of the broader Atlantic Initiative spearheaded by HM King Mohammed VI to connect Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean.
Uraloglu welcomed Morocco’s strategic vision and expressed Türkiye’s interest in cooperating on maritime transport. He proposed joint investments in shipbuilding and shipyard infrastructure, citing Türkiye’s expertise in the sector as a foundation for deeper industrial partnership.
Morocco is taking part in the June 27–29 Global Transport Connectivity Forum with a high-level delegation led by Kayouh and composed of senior officials from the transport and road safety sectors.
The forum brings together ministers, international organizations, financial institutions, and private-sector leaders to discuss transport connectivity, infrastructure investment, and sustainable mobility solutions, with a focus on green energy, digital innovation, and regional integration.
