Morocco’s Trade Minister Holds Talks with India’s Defence Minister

Aljiha Post

Rabat – Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, held talks, on Monday in Rabat, with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of India, Rajnath Singh, accompanied by a high level delegation on a working visit to Morocco.

On this occasion, Mezzour emphasized that relations between Morocco and India have experienced an important dynamic since the visit paid by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to India in 2015, marked by substantial progress, mainly in the industry field.

The minister noted that Indian investments in the Kingdom have multiplied, particularly in the defense industry, pointing out that several Indian companies have already kickstarted projects in the field.

Mezzour added that Singh’s visit provides an opportunity to oversee these projects and proceed to the inauguration of the Tata Advanced Systems Morocco plant, dedicated to the manufacture of armored wheeled platforms.

He indicated that the choice of Morocco testifies to the confidence in the Kingdom’s climate of stability.

Singh’s visit forms part of the strengthening and diversification of bilateral cooperation between Morocco and India, marked by the signing, earlier during the day, of a memorandum of understanding providing for cooperation in the fields of training, exercises and drills, cybersecurity and cyber defense, defense industry, military health, as well as the exchange of experience and expertise in various areas of common interest.
