Rabat – The airline Ryanair, in partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), announced on Wednesday at Rabat-Salé Airport the opening of a new base in Rabat from April 2026, its fifth in Morocco, with two aircraft based there, 20 routes operated, and an investment of $200 million.
Seven new international routes will connect Rabat to Milan Bergamo, Baden-Baden, Frankfurt Hahn, Nuremberg, Porto, Pisa, and Valencia starting in summer 2026. The overall offering will thus reach more than 18 weekly flights from Rabat in the first season of operation, representing 79,000 additional seats on the international market and growth of more than 49% in Ryanair’s operations from Rabat airport.
The announcement was made during a ceremony attended by Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy Fatim-Zahra Ammor, who emphasized that the opening of this new base in Rabat is part of the exceptional tourism momentum that Morocco is experiencing under the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
“This major investment is a concrete reflection of the tourism roadmap, which places great importance on air connectivity. It also demonstrates the confidence of our international partners, who support our ambition to position Morocco as a world-class tourist destination, while generating a tangible economic impact at the regional level,” the minister said.
Eddie Wilson, CEO of Ryanair, said: This new base brings our total investment in Morocco to over $1.6 billion and provides more than 8,500 direct and indirect jobs.”
The opening of this base will increase Rabat’s capacity by 45% and will be part of Ryanair’s most ambitious summer deployment in Morocco, with over 10.7 million passengers expected at thirteen airports across the Kingdom.
It will also generate more than 800 local jobs, including 60 highly skilled positions for pilots and cabin crew.
