Morocco continues to strengthen its position among the world’s leading exporters of mandarins, benefiting from the high quality of its citrus production and its strategic proximity to European markets. Each agricultural season, citrus orchards across the country become an essential source of supply for international markets where demand for mandarins remains strong.
Recent estimates indicate that Moroccan mandarin exports could reach around 550,000 tons during the 2025–2026 season, confirming the country’s growing influence in the global citrus trade. This performance reflects sustained investments in agricultural production, packaging facilities, and export logistics.
European markets remain the primary destination for Moroccan mandarins. The country’s geographical proximity to Europe provides a competitive advantage in terms of transport time and product freshness. Premium varieties such as Nadorcott have also played a key role in boosting international demand thanks to their quality and distinctive taste.
However, the sector still faces several challenges, particularly water scarcity, climate variability, and increasing competition from other exporting countries. Despite these pressures, industry stakeholders are focusing on innovation, improved irrigation techniques, and market diversification.
