Tangier-Med Port, one of the largest ports in Africa, continues its expansion with the launch of the second phase of its container terminal expansion project, TC4.
As part of the expansion, 14 automated electrical platforms, 11 semi-automated hybrid carriers, and 4 new STS (Ship-to-Shore) cranes have been added, resulting in a capacity increase of one million containers.
With this expansion, the total capacity of the TC4 terminal reaches 5 million containers, representing more than half of Tangier-Med Port’s total capacity, which exceeds 9 million containers.
This growth aligns with the strategy of the Tangier Med Agency, aiming to position Tangier-Med Port as a global logistics center.
The strategic initiatives have contributed to several achievements, including securing the 24th position in Lloyd’s List’s ranking of the world’s top 100 container ports.
Furthermore, Tangier-Med Port claimed the fourth position in the 2022 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), issued by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence.
The recent expansion of the TC4 terminal is expected to enhance Tangier-Med Port’s status as a global logistics hub and attract more foreign investments to Morocco.
