London – The first anniversary of the Enhanced Strategic Partnership between Morocco and the United Kingdom, signed in Rabat on June 1, 2025, was celebrated at the Palace of Westminster, the seat of the British Parliament, highlighting the strength of a relationship that spans more than 800 years.
The reception brought together Morocco’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Hakim Hajoui, alongside prominent British political, diplomatic, and business figures. The event provided an opportunity to review the significant progress achieved since the launch of the partnership and to discuss future avenues for cooperation.
Speakers praised the remarkable momentum in Morocco–UK relations over the past year, noting that the Enhanced Strategic Partnership has opened new opportunities for collaboration across a broad range of sectors, including defense, security, trade, healthcare, energy, water management, and projects linked to the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Participants emphasized that the partnership has already produced tangible initiatives and concrete results, reflecting the shared commitment of Rabat and London to deepen bilateral ties and promote sustainable economic growth.
The Westminster gathering came just days after a major Morocco–UK Business Forum held in Morocco, which brought together private-sector leaders from both countries. It also followed the fourth session of the Morocco–UK Association Council, co-chaired by Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for International Trade, Chris Bryant.
During the discussions, both sides reaffirmed their ambition to double bilateral trade volumes in the coming years while strengthening investment flows between the two nations. The participation of more than 50 British companies operating in sectors such as infrastructure, transportation, security, engineering, design, and professional services underscored the growing interest in long-term cooperation with Morocco.
The reception was organized by the Morocco–United Kingdom All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG Morocco), chaired by Member of Parliament and former minister Andrew Murrison. The event was attended by senior British officials, including Hamish Falconer, the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Morocco and West Africa Ben Coleman, and Labour MP Joe Powell, along with members of both Houses of Parliament and representatives of British businesses.
The celebration highlighted Morocco’s growing role as a strategic partner for the United Kingdom in North Africa and reaffirmed the shared commitment of both nations to expanding economic, commercial, and investment cooperation while fostering regional stability and prosperity.
