Rabat –  Strengthening economic and trade relations between Morocco and the Republic of Ecuador was at the center of talks held on Friday in Rabat between the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador, Gabriela Sommerfeld.

The visit of the Ecuadorian delegation, composed of private sector representatives, is part of efforts to consolidate win-win economic partnerships, fostering closer ties between the economic operators of both countries.

On this occasion, Sommerfeld stated that bilateral relations between Quito and Rabat are experiencing positive momentum, underlining her country’s willingness to move to a new stage focused on the development of trade.

The objective is to establish Morocco as a strategic platform for Ecuador toward Africa, while positioning Ecuador as a key ally of the Kingdom in Latin America, she added.

For his part, Mezzour said that this meeting made it possible to reaffirm the shared ambition to elevate economic cooperation to the level of excellence of diplomatic relations, which have seen major progress in recent years.

This visit aims to explore possible synergies to integrate Ecuadorian products into African value chains through the Moroccan hub and to promote structuring projects between companies from both nations, he added.

The minister also affirmed that this phase of rapprochement is part of a vision of sustainable economic complementarity, aimed at leveraging the respective geostrategic advantages of Morocco and Ecuador.

Finally, both parties reiterated their commitment to placing bilateral relations on a path of a lasting partnership, serving economic growth and bringing Africa and Latin America closer together
