Tangier will take centre stage in the 25th edition of the Di Meo Calendar, set to be unveiled on October 24, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. at the Moulay Hafid Palace, also known as the Palace of Italian Institutions. Entitled “Naples–Tangier, Mediterranean Dialogues,” this anniversary edition explores the connections between the Moroccan city and Naples through their Mediterranean history and openness to cultural exchange.
For 25 years, the project led by Generoso Di Meo has connected Naples with cities across Italy and around the world through photography, art, history and culture. This year, it turns its attention to Tangier’s heritage, urban spaces and cosmopolitan identity, highlighting the affinities between two port cities shaped by encounters between cultures.
The photography has been entrusted to Massimo Listri, a contributor to the Di Meo Calendar since 2013. His work explores Tangier’s architecture, gardens, courtyards, museums, places of worship and historic residences. Beginning with the Moulay Hafid Palace, the photographs offer a visual journey through the city’s architectural heritage.
The edition also brings together contributions from twelve figures from Italian and international cultural circles. Alongside Listri’s photographs, their texts offer varied perspectives on Tangier and its connections with Naples, presenting both cities as places of cultural encounter and exchange.
The celebrations are scheduled to begin on October 23 with a welcome cocktail reception at the Tangier American Legation. Now home to a museum and a cultural and research centre, the Legation is described in the event presentation as the only United States National Historic Landmark located outside American territory.
The announced guest list includes Princess Malika Alaoui of Morocco, Princess Coralie Hardouin di Belmonte, Italian Ambassador to Morocco Pasquale Salzano, Enzo Amendola, Alessandro Cecchi Paone, Ralph Toledano, Antonella Boralevi, Jasper Conran, Marisa Berenson and Beatrice of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.
Other announced personalities include Sophia Tazi Mezian, Kirat Young, accompanied by the Marquis Elie de Dampierre, Frank de Biasi, Gene Meyer, Valérie-Anne Giscard d’Estaing, Sylvia Serra di Cassano, Laure Welfling, George and Victoria Romanoff, Sebastian Schütze, Marilù Gaetani d’Aragona, Mario Martone and the Marquise Eugenia de Serigny.
With this anniversary edition, the Di Meo Calendar continues its editorial approach of bringing photography and writing together around a city. Through Tangier, Generoso Di Meo seeks to draw closer two Mediterranean cities where cultural differences provide fertile ground for dialogue.
